Dolphin is a 26ft pitch pine on oak hulled motor sailer built in 1963 in Peterborough by a yard who made lifeboats for the RNLI.

Working with a diverse team of boat building experts, marine surveyors, boating enthusiasts, students & community volunteers, the goal is strip back & repurpose this beautiful wooden boat – transforming Dolphin into a fantastic electrically powered launch which will silently deliver nature immersion experiences, pleasure trips, and events on the Salcombe - Kingsbridge Estuary (Ria) enabling more people from all walks of life get to out on the water and fall in love with what to many is inaccessible.

Dolphin will be crewed and managed by the community project volunteers and as such will be an asset to be used and enjoyed by everyone, rather than sitting forlornly on a mooring most of the time like 99% of other private vessels!

Learning new skills and working as part a team in the outdoors is a proven way to deliver positive outcomes. We would welcome additional partners & volunteers on this project. Please Note: You do not need any specialist skills to get involved just a willingness to contribute to a team effort in a light hearted atmosphere. If you would like to get involved and help give Dolphin, yourself & others a new lease of life, please get in touch.
